Honey Harvest Festival Highlights

Dance Into Light was invited to return to the  Voelker Orth Museum Bird Sanctuary and Victorian Garden!

Thanks to those who joined us on August 23, 2017 for the Annual Honey Harvest Festival.

Dance Into Light Artists, Lisa and Jared led participants through a creative movement experience  about the Museum's honey bees. The audience participated in a fun mini-creative movement workshop. Together we created and performed an original bee-inspired dance in the garden.

Highlights from Our Creative Movement Workshop

On July 19, 2017, Dina Denis conducted a creative movement workshop with dancers Lisa Craig, Yuki Fukui, Evelyn Hoelscher, Madison McGrath and Jared Stern. Using structured improvisation, Dina taught a honey bee inspired dance for a group of  multigenerational participants to learn and perform together. The Dance Into Light Dancers completed the afternoon with a premiere performance in the garden of Dina's new work Peace Among the Restless set to music How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place by the Exultate Festival Chorus - Chamber Orchestra Masterworks of Worship Collection Brahms Requiem. The participants were then treated to a special tour of the Voelker Orth's honey bees by Urta, the museum's resident bee keeper.
