Dina Denis (BA, Dance & MA Dance Ed) is a dancer, choreographer, teacher and the founder of Queens based Dina Denis Dance/Dance Into Light (DIL).
Since 2003, DIL's mission has been to explore dance as an avenue for personal healing for participants and observers and as a means of self-expression through multicultural and multidisciplinary collaborations and educational experiences for youth and seniors.
Dina and Dance Into Light have received grant and sponsorship support from: the Astoria Federal Bank; Queens Council on the Arts/NYSCA; the New York City DCA; JP Morgan Chase; New York City Department for the Aging; and Council Member Peter Koo for choreographic projects and community dance programs. Her work has been presented in various local venues such as the LaGuardia Community College Performing Arts Center, the Langston Hughes Library, the Volker-Orth Museum and Bird Sanctuary, Green Space's “Blooms Festival” and “Take Root” series, Salvatore LaRussa Dance Theatre's Free Sunday Performing Arts, the Queensborough Dance Festival at the Secret Theatre, Long Island City's Lot Fest and Gantry Plaza State Park as well as in venues in Long Island, Chicago, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio and Colorado.
Dina has performed with Anabella Lenzu/DanceDrama, Douglas Dunn, Joan Miller's Dance Players, Robin Becker, Sheila Kaminsky, Martial Roumain, Dr. Glory Van Scott, Joan Peters, Val Suarez and Dina Denis Dance/Dance Into Light.
